| Google AdSense Alternate Ads and Public Service Ads |

Google AdSense is a program that provide specific advertisement to appear on the websites that have similar context as those of the AdSense advertisement. A majority of the time Google has adequate advertisers. Thus, there's adequate AdSense context that Google could use to match the context of most websites that are enrolled in the program. But every so often there isn't enough advertisers for Google to include AdSense text ads to match all websites. In this situation, Google will provide alternative ads to fill in the reserve space or advertisement location. Unless you specified, Google will use Public Service Ads to fill in the blanks. You do not get paid for for Public Service Ads (PSA) clicks. Public Service Ads, as the title indicate, are public service or charitable ads. You could specify the alternative ads to appear on your website, unless you don't mind with PSA.
So, what are your options? You could chose the alternative ads to better suit your website such as color, image or morphing ads.
Morphing or Collapsing Ads: This type of alternative ad will shrink if there isn't any AdSense advertisement available to suit your web page. Collapsing ads make your web page look clean as it uses less space.
Color: Color is important to most websites. You could choice the specific color as your alternative ads. The color you choice depends on the background color. You'd want it to blend in so that it appears transparent. If you have custom colors on your web page, you need to supply the HTML color code. If you have general HTML color codes, Google has the color palette for you to use.
Image: Another clever method to use as alternative ad is image. You could use the image has a link to your other web page. This method will make the most of your traffic.
